Event Details/Other Comments:

This workshop focuses on the mathematical techniques for registering
images. The aims are to bring together interested researchers for
fruitful discussions of current challenges and future directions for
mathematicians to contribute to imaging and registration problems,
with special emphasis on medical images.
The five main speakers are
1. Efficient algorithms for complex problems in medicine. Bernd
Fischer (Mathematics, Luebeck)
2. Medical Imaging. David Hawkes (Centre for Medical Image
Computing, UCL)
3. Approximation Theory. Jeremy Levesly (Mathematics, Leicester)
4. Geodesic Interpolating Splines. Stephen Marsland (Information
Sciences, Massey University)
5. Solutions and Algorithms For Image Registration. Jan Modersitzki
(Mathematics, Luebeck)
The workshop will run 11am to 5pm on Monday 5th of September in Room
M12 of the Mathematics and Social Sciences Building, at the School of
Mathematics (in the ex-UMIST Mathematics department). There is no
registration fee. Some support funds are available to UK based
researchers wishing to attend the workshop.
